Sanne Jehoul is originally from Belgium and moved to Glasgow, Scotland in 2010, where she is still based and works as the co-director of Glasgow Short Film Festival. She was previously a programmer and producer at Document Human Rights Film Festival and freelances across curation and writing. She’s also part of the team at Square Eyes, a Vienna-based film sales and festival distribution agency.
Sanne is interested in locally focused, accessible and inclusive approaches to film festivals and exhibition that can resist the neoliberal growth-driven structures they find themselves in. Her attention currently spikes for explorations of urban spaces, psychogeography, and technological ‘progress’ on screen, particularly around ideas of control and surveillance.

Research as part of this residency will work largely towards the wider programme of Glasgow Short Film Festival 2022. Building on recent programming around labour, public space and surveillance, I intend to look at short film and new media works exploring technological change and automation, from both techno-utopian and techno-sceptical perspectives.
