May 2024 - June 2024Blerina Muriqi (b. 2000) is an architect from Kosovo with a deep connection to architecture, nature, design and the way we shape our everyday lives. After completing her Bachelor's degree in Architecture and Spatial Planning, she was able to hone her skills in conceptual design, spatial planning, project management, visualisation, 3D modelling, documentation, research and writing in practice. In addition to her professional work, she was actively involved in volunteer activities, demonstrating her strong interest in community and social issues. She also enriched her artistic perspective by participating in various art and architecture festivals, where she brought a unique architectural vision to the vibrant cultural discourse.
Blerina's work is characterised by her pursuit of thoughtful design, with each project focused on innovation and user-centred solutions. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for integrating nature into her work, she strives to create spaces that connect people to the beauty of the earth, helping to keep us grounded and preserve our humanity.
An emerging artist from Kosovo, Blerina Muriqi is completing a two-month internship at AKT, an architecture collective based in Vienna. Muriqi's project during the residency at the MQ will focus on the concept of spatial intimacy and the interplay between architecture, movement and perception. With a combination of visual art and spatial interventions, she strives to create immersive experiences. These are intended to invite the viewer to reflect on their perception of space and their relationship to their surroundings. Interventions in urban areas create public spaces for community activities, relaxation and events that sensitise citizens to the transformative power of architecture. These interventions encourage social interactions and strengthen the sense of belonging within the community.
While developing her skills in the architecture collective and gaining valuable experience, Blerina Muriqi also wants to explore and engage with the local artistic community. Her aim is to share ideas, make meaningful connections and promote cultural exchange within Vienna's diverse art scene.
