In 2017, Carbide was shortlisted for the prestigious Angelus Central European Award. Earlier in career, I was awarded the Debut (2007) and Kyiv Laurels (2011) literary prizes, literary award of Kovalev Foundation as well as 2017 Shevelov Prize for the best essay book of the year in Ukraine (awarded by the Ukrainian PEN and the Harvard Institute of Ukrainian Studies).

During my Q21 residence in Wien (March and April, 2019), I intend to achieve three goals, the main of which is a book about the "territory of Ovid" as I metaphorically refer to the Central-Eastern region of Europe. I started collecting material for this project two years ago and the residence at Q21 would give me the opportunity to concentrate on writing the book I plan to publish in the end of 2019.
Another equally important goal for me is to discover contemporary Austria, its culture and socio-political life, and familiarise with intellectual, scientific, artistic circles.
Thirdly, during my residence I intend to continue writing articles and columns for press. As a columnist for several leading Ukrainian media (including “Radio Liberty/Free Europe”, the largest Ukrainian newspaper "Day/ Den'" and several online news services) I will be writing regular pieces about my stay in Austria, thus encouraging Ukrainian readers to take a new look at Austria, its experience in different fields and contemporary life. I hope my texts on Austria will contribute to the building of mutual relations and intensifying cultural exchange.
