May 2016 - May 2016LŐRINC BORSOS is in fact the hybrid of two artists: János BORSOS and Lilla LŐRINC working from 2008. During the first five years of her artistic career, she have focused on examining the possibilities of a self-reflective national identity. Following this period she favoured reflecting on the dark, unjust side of history through self-observation. Her trademark is the shiny black substance derived from the black enamel paint often found in her work. LŐRINC BORSOS lives in Székesfehérvár and works in Budapest.

Austria - a Dream (working title)
(...)
In his current project, the artist would like to explore the period of the creation of Austrian identity from the early 20th century until the present, with special respect to the similarities and concordances with the Hungarian as well as his own artistic identity. During his residency in Austria, he would like to collect information for his research throughout his personal experiences. He would like to create an enigmatic world by treating the collected material within the domain of global connections, free associations and experimentation with materials. His epigraph for this long term research is from a book titled Katzenmusik by Gerhard Fritsch: "We need to wake up from the dream with the help of the dream we call past." The artist’s focus of interest in the project is how Fritsch’s method can be adapted to visual art, namely wherein something is -as Robert Menasse expresses in his book- "…fully composed of symbols, dreamscapes and signs without being symbolist."
The cultural vibe of the city is is very inspiring, and MQ is the hart of it. Very informative and friendly welcome from Erste Stiftung. Possibility to meet and talk with other artists from all over. Took part in exhibitions, saw a lot more, made new works.
