December 2015 - December 2015Mario de Vega was born 1979 in Mexico City. Through site-specific interventions, sound, sculpture, actions and publications in diverse formats, his research explores the value of failure, vulnerability and simulation. de Vega has lead seminars, workshops and talks at Universität der Künste Berlin, Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt, Technische Universität Berlin, Centro de Diseño, Cine y Televisión, Braunschweig University of Art, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Laboratorio Arte Alameda, Universität für Angewandte Kunst Wien, Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo, Goucher College, LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, and Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center, between others. In 2013 he was awarded with Transitio Prize. His work is represented in Mexico by Marso Gallery, and at present he is member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores, one of the most prestigious grants of Mexico. de Vega holds over 10 publications, in which stands out Atrás, the first retrospective of his work with texts by Guillermo Santamarina, Michel Blancsubé, Andrés Oriard and Björn Gottstein. His work has been exhibited in different contexts throughout Mexico, North America, South Africa, India, Russia, Japan and around Europe. He lives and works in Berlin and Mexico City.
