August 2015 - August 2015Dr. Jonila Godole (1974) teaches at the University of Tirana, Department of Journalism and Communication. She studied language and literature in Tirana, then political science, sociology and education in Frankfurt am Main. In the early 1990s she was one of the first journalists in the free independent press, best known for her interviews with key political figures of the time. Since 2006 she has been living in Tirana again. In addition to numerous specialist articles and journalistic contributions, Godole is also active in literature, writing herself and translating from German. Her Albanian classics such as Rainer M. Rilke (Duineser Elegien, awarded the Kult-Translatorspreis 2010), Chamisso (Schlemhil's miraculous story), R. Musil (Törless), Th. Bernhard (The Force of Habit: A Comedy; Der Italiener), Dürrenmatt (The Trial of Esels Shadow), Julia Franck (The Midday Woman), Musil's "The Confusions of Young Törless" as well as short stories by W. Köppen, M. Haushofer etc. have been translated. She is currently working on R. Musil's work "The Man Without Qualities".
